Alternative Financial Service Ordinance
Background
On March 9, 2021, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors adopted the Alternative Financial Services Ordinance. This ordinance is effective April 8, 2021.
On October 16, 2018 the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors instructed the Department of Regional Planning to study and prepare amendments to the County Code, Title 22 – Planning and Zoning, to control impacts caused by high-cost lenders. Regional Planning was instructed to develop a new definition and development standards for high-cost loan businesses, and require a minimum separation distance between these businesses to address overconcentration.
