On December 7, 2010, the Board of Supervisors adopted the final ordinance to ban medical marijuana dispensaries throughout unincorporated Los Angeles County. This ordinance is effective on January 6, 2011.
Summary
An amendment to Title 22 (Planning and Zoning) of the Los Angeles County Code to ban medical marijuana dispensaries throughout unincorporated Los Angeles County; or, in the event that a ban is held unlawful by a decision of a California Court of Appeals or by the California Supreme Court, to retain existing regulations for the establishment of medical marijuana dispensaries.
Previous regulations for the establishment of medical marijuana dispensaries were adopted under Ordinance 2006-0032, effective June 8, 2006. Under Ordinance 2006-0032, medical marijuana dispensaries require a conditional use permit for establishment in zones C-1, C-2, C-3, C-M, M-1, M-1 1/2, M-2, M-4, and MPD with regulations incorporated in to zones M-2 1/2, M-3, and D-2 by reference. Ordinance 2006-0032 is out of effect as of January 6, 2011.
