The Standard ADU Plans Pilot Program will make plans for different ADU types, styles and sizes created by professional architects and designers available to the public. These plans will be pre-approved by LA County Planning and Building & Safety, with the goals of speeding up the County review and approval process, guiding homeowners who may not know where to start, and ensuring that those homeowners work with qualified, experienced professionals. Homeowners will select an ADU Plan, then work directly with the architect/designer to purchase, finalize, and submit the plans for County review and permitting.
An online DRP – Base Application – Permits and Reviews must be completed via EPIC-LA (https://epicla.lacounty.gov). Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Please refer to “How to Apply Online” on our applications page (https://case.planning.lacounty.gov/apps).
Please see the checklist below for ADU master plan submittal. For questions about submittal, please contact the Operations & Major Projects Section at OMP@planning.lacounty.gov or call (213) 974-6411.
Pre-approvals will remain valid through 12/31/2025 (before the next building code update becomes effective on 1/1/2026).
