Alcohol Sales Use Ordinance (SAAFE)
On May 31, 2016 the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors directed the Department of Regional Planning, in coordination with the Department of Public Health, to prepare an ordinance to clarify existing provisions related to alcohol sales uses. As a result the Safe Access to Alcohol and Food Establishments (SAAFE) project was created to examine ways to update alcohol sales regulations while promoting the sale of healthy food at retail stores that sell alcohol throughout unincorporated Los Angeles County.
On September 19, 2017 the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors adopted the SAAFE Ordinance. It takes effect on October 19, 2017. The final ordinance is now available.
